The park is open from dawn till dusk for public use. The paved park pathways and pedestrian bridge remain open as a public throughway at all hours.

Street parking is available along the west side of the park on Dyer Street and along the east side of the park along South Water Street. There is also paid parking at the Garrahy Courthouse Parking Garage and South Street Landing Parking Garage. 

Yes, there is free public WiFi available in the west side of the park. The network is “TakeItOutside” and you will be directed to a sign in screen upon connecting. 

Yes, the park, and associated events and programming within, strive to be accessible to all. Construction along the Riverwalk and Pedestrian Bridge will begin in the near future to improve ADA accessibility in these areas.

The park is approximately 7 acres. 

The park is owned and operated by the I-195 Redevelopment District (District). In 2011, an elevated portion of Interstate 195 cutting through Providence was relocated, freeing over 26 acres of former highway land for redevelopment. The District and its oversight Commission is a quasi-public state entity created to oversee the sale, marketing and redevelopment of this land. Approximately seven acres of land was designated as open space as part of the redevelopment and is now home to 195 District Park.

From May to November, there are restrooms available in The Guild Beer Garden during their hours of operation. Most pop-up events or continuous programming have additional portable restrooms on-site. A permanent food and beverage pavilion is slated for future construction on the west side of the park and will include public restrooms.

Yes! The park is a great place to walk your pet on leash. Please be sure to pick up after any pets. 

Please enjoy eating in the park! We ask that you dispose of any trash in the park’s waste receptables. Alcohol can only be consumed at approved and permitted events in designated spaces. Any event with approved alcohol consumption will have a cordoned off area where alcohol is permitted.

Yes! Please enjoy the lawn and be mindful of any signs that indicate if an area is under construction and is closed to the public.

The City of Providence operates the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge. To learn more about events on the bridge or to contact their staff visit the Parks and Recreation page. 

If you are interested in promoting your company in the park, please get in touch via the Contact page. Promotions in the park must be approved by park staff in advance.

If you see a maintenance or landscaping issue, we’d appreciate you using the contact form to alert park staff. Please include a photograph of the issue to better help us identify the problem. 

Much of the land surrounding the park is slated for future development. Please excuse the construction in the Innovation and Design District as these exciting new projects develop. There are also construction projects within the park that will be underway soon. These projects will improve ADA accessibility along the river walk and pedestrian bridge and build a permanent food and beverage pavilion. 

The sculpture in the park is entitled “head in the clouds …… feet on the ground” and was created by Jerry Ehrlich. It was originally commissioned for PVDFest 2020 and used to reside outside of Providence City Hall before moving to the park. More of Jerry’s work can be found on his website.
